The Saudi Arabian government has outlined plans to curb ‘anarchy’ in the media by amending its print and copyright laws.
The Gulf Kingdom's Minister of Culture and Information, Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja, said that the ministry is currently composing a new law that will define the responsibilities, duties and functions of print, TV and online media.
“I have made it a priority to eliminate media anarchy because such activities need to be organised,” said Khoja. “We should not let any mad person encroach on the privacy of the people and insult them under the excuse of freedom of expression.”
