Keith Weed, executive vice-president home care, oral care and water at Unilever, is set to replace Simon Clift as chief marketing officer of the FMCG giant.
Effective 1 April 2010, Weed will become a member of the Unilever executive and report to chief executive Paul Polman.
“This is the first time Unilever has had a CMO at the top table and is a key step to having a sharper consumer focus in the company,” said Polman. “Weed will be leading marketing, including the development of the Unilever brand and will also assume responsibility for the communications function.”
Clift left Unilever in early February after spending 30 years with the company. He helped develop Dove’s ‘Campaign for Real Beauty’ and was behind the global success of Axe. Last year, at the 20th annual M&M Awards, Clift was named International Marketer of the Year.
