Bloomberg Media has appointed ex-HBO boss Allan Wai as its first global commercial creative director.
Wai, who spent five years as manager of digital design and production at HBO, will oversee the “creative core” of client partnerships.
Reporting to Bloomberg’s head of global media marketing, Zazie Lucke, he will be responsible for delivering “innovative and engaging experiences” for clients across the publishers digital, mobile, video, broadcast, print and live channels.
He will also oversee the “aesthetic and execution” for all of Bloomberg’s global trade activity, ad sales materials, promotions, and events.
Wai most recently spent six months as consulting creative director.
Bloomberg’s chief revenue and client partnerships officer Paul Caine said: “[Wai] is a truly admired and creative force who will bring fierce direction and spark to our forthcoming Bloomberg Studios and our advertising partners.”
Speaking to M&M Global at Cannes Lions earlier this summer, commercial director, EMEA, Matt Teeman said the perception of Bloomberg is far from what the company is actually doing.
“Our editorial approach has broadened from being simply a finance data company. Business is now everywhere and in everything, so as a result this our approach has changed to represent this,” he said.
