Bing exec to lead YouTube marketing
23 February 2012
Google has appointed Microsoft’s Bing general manager Danielle Tiedt as vice-president of marketing for YouTube.
The move comes as YouTube has invested $100m in launching 96 entertainment channels in a bid to create TV-like viewing in order to attract TV-like brand ad dollars.
Tiedt will be tasked with luring audiences to the new channels and asking users to think of YouTube in a different way.
Tiedt has spent the last 15 years at Microsoft, primarily on MSN.
“We are excited to have someone of the calibre of Danielle on board,” said Google in a statement. “She will play a pivotal role as we move forward into our next phase of growth.”
