Summary Publicis launched a new positioning “Contagious Ideas that Change the Conversation”, bolstered its digital offering and won significant business, including Crest, Carrefour and Malibu worldwide. 2009 saw COO Richard Pinder assume sole global leadership with goals to turn Publicis Modem into a leading digital network and make Publicis a top five creative network across all communications disciplines.
Publicis Modem rolled out to 40 markets with 1,200 employees, landing global clients LG and PayPal along with HP PSG pan-European assignment.
Creative recognition grew as the network entered the Gunn Report Top Ten for the first time ever. In France, Publicis Conseil was named Agency of the Year and Creative Agency of the Year. Publicis New York was awarded Adweek’s highest agency grade alongside Goodby, Crispin and Wieden for the second year running.
The network expanded with the acquisition of Swiss digital hot-shop Nemos, majority ownership of Publicis MARC Bulgaria and it opened its doors for business in Ghana.
