Facebook Audience Network adds In-Stream, In-Article video ads

Video adverts are now available in Facebook Audience Network, according to a Facebook for Business blog post.

The move, which is part of Facebook’s strategy to drive revenue stream from video and divert spend away from traditional media like TV, will employ a variety of in-stream and in-article formats and will be available to advertisers everywhere over the next few weeks.

In-stream ads on Facebook Audience Network will run before, during and after video content on third-party apps and sites across mobile and desktop, while in-article videos will show between paragraphs of text, auto-playing when at least one-half of the pixels are available.

Facebook’s Instant Articles, developed to allow publishers to deliver content with interactive elements that load 10 times faster than standard mobile web posts, will be the first place these ads are available.

In order to make use of these new offerings, advertisers will leave Audience Network checked in the ‘placement’ section when creating or modifying adverts.

“Facebook’s Audience Network has allowed us to see cost effectiveness and extend the reach of our Facebook video view campaigns,” said Jack in the Box social media manager Rag Mahtani.

“The introduction of new video formats that support brand objectives—like video views—means more people can enjoy Jack in the Box video content on more apps and sites than ever before.”

In other Facebook video news, the social media is trialing a music video product called Slideshow which aims to allow users to share photos and videos with accompanying music from Warner Music Group to help users create “soundtrack options.”

OMD and Facebook also recently joined forces in EMEA for a new e-learning initiative.
