Santander reviews $43m media biz

Banking group Santander has put its $43m media planning and buying account, currently held by Carat, out for pitch.

The group last reviewed its media duties three years ago following the merger between Abbey, Alliance & Leicester and Bradford & Bingley which led to the creation of Santander. The latest contest is being led by Santander’s director of brand and communications Keith Moor.

Carat, which had worked on the Abbey business since November 2005 and picked up the Alliance & Leicester duties in 2006, retained the account in 2008 following a three-way pitch against Starcom and UM London. Bradford & Bingley incumbent Mediacom was not invited to re-pitch.
