Cathay Pacific takes in-flight mag digital
02 August 2012
Cathay Pacific Airways has expanded its in-flight magazine Discovery, with digital elements across multi-channels launching today (August 2).
The digital Discovery will be available as a digital magazine, an iPad app and on discovery.cathaypacific.com. The print version will still be available on-board Cathay Pacific flights.
Built by ACP Magazines’ digital team, Discovery has been optimised for a variety of devices, including smartphones, iPads, Kindles and desktop computers.
Digital features include embedded videos, high-resolution screenshots, concept features and touch-screen functionality. The magazine can also be downloaded from the App Store.
The move comes following research that showed Cathay Pacific passengers were likely to own several digital devices and are used to having multi-screen experiences.
“Cathay Pacific passengers expect the very latest information on the places they’re visiting, so we rely on writers who actually live in the cities and countries we feature to ensure we are delivering an intimate digest of useful knowledge,” says Discovery editor-in-chief William Fraser. “Digital Disovery draws on the editorial ethos of the print magazine, acting as a trusted, regularly updated content companion across all devices.”
