IBT Media appoints Hearst’s Greg Witham as first EMEA COO

IBT Media, owner of the International Business Times and Newsweek brands, has appointed Greg Witham as its first chief operating officer for the EMEA region.

Greg Witham

Witham joins from Hearst Magazines, where he operated as group publishing director across titles such as Cosmopolitan and Digital Spy. Prior to this he held roles with Newsquest and Time Inc.

He joins on 7 March and will be based at the company’s offices at London’s Canary Wharf, reporting to IBT Media UK and EMEA co-founder and managing director Dev Pragad.

It comes as IBT Media looks to expand commercially and editorially into new markets across EMEA. Witham will be tasked with spearheading commercial growth across key markets, developing new revenue streams and overseeing the overall strategy and operations for the business.

“Greg will be part of our core leadership team in London. With his skillset and confidence he’s best suited to help us become a leader in the cutting edge digital news business,” said Pragad.

“His experience of identifying trends, driving growth and working across many platforms including print magazines and digital products makes him the ideal appointment. This is an exciting time for IBT Media and Greg will be instrumental in our next phase of growth.”

Witham added: “The opportunities for IBT Media are huge. I am thrilled to join such an agile and dynamic business that’s enjoying amazing growth. IBT Media is well on the way to becoming the go-to destination for leading thinkers and influencers across the globe. As well as diversifying the existing portfolio, we’ve got new markets to work in and new readers to reach.”
