Nickelodeon extends Eastern Europe reach

06 April 2010

Nickelodeon is to broadcast a dedicated Czech Republic feed along with an extended Romanian service.

UPC digital cable users will be able to access a local language feed in the Czech Republic for the first time. Meanwhile, UPC Romania is extending its distribution network following its launch in February.

Both moves are to be supported with localised services on Nickelodeon’s online offering including programme synopses, schedules, and promos.

Viacom’s MTV Networks International (MTVNI) runs the channel with its Emerging Markets division behind a ‘one brand’ philosophy to oversee Nickelodeon’s transition to targeting whole family audiences across numerous platforms.

The launch brings Nickelodeon’s presence in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Africa to more than six million households across 27 countries.

General manager and vice president for MTV Networks Hungry and Emerging Markets at MTVNI, Gábor Horváth Dori said: “Nickelodeon continues to be a key growth driver for the Emerging Markets in 2010. We are thrilled to be expanding the brand’s reach and making it available to new audiences throughout Eastern Europe.”
