France 24 agrees New York distribution deal

France 24’s English feed will be available full-time in the New York region in the US through Time Warner.

The channel has agreed a distribution deal with Time Warner, which will see it broadcast on Time Warner’s basic cable package and potentially reach 1.5 million subscribers.

The deal will be backed with an out-of-home presence that will take in hotel sites as well as targeting companies, national and international institutions.

“This agreement is a crucial step for our channel and its ongoing implementation in the US,” said Philippe Rouxel, vice-president worldwide distribution, France 24. “This launch on Time Warner is not only a source of great satisfaction, it is also extremely symbolic, showing that the channel has proven its capacity to attract and interest the North American audience.”

France 24 saw its penetration rate increase across the US by 50% during the first quarter of 2011. The channel is currently available in both English and French feeds in Washington, Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston.
