According to a report in Automotive News, Chehab resigned on Sunday (4 October) for personal reasons.

Chehab joined the Italian luxury car brand, which is part of Fiat Chrysler, in November 2013, after serving as the head of Chrysler and Lancia and director of advertising and brand marketing for the Chrysler Group.

He has won accolades for his marketing output at Fiat Chrysler, particularly for the car-maker’s much-lauded  Chrysler Super Bowl ads, which ran in 2011 and 2012 and starred rapper Eminem and film star and director Clint Eastwood.

At Maserati, Chehab was responsible for the car marque’s global marketing. Last year he oversaw a Super Bowl ad to promote the brand’s entry-level Ghibli model, with an ad campaign dubbed ‘Strike’.

Chehab joined Fiat Chrysler in 2009 from Ford, where he was director of creative services.

On his appointment, Fiat Chrysler chief executive Sergio Marchionne said that he wanted to grow the Maserati brand globally, with the company backing its aspirations with $1.3bn to broaden its range to encompass six new models, including the Ghibli and Levante.
