MEC Global Solutions creates head of digital strategy role

MEC Global Solutions has recruited WPP alumnus Chien-Wen Tong as its first head of digital strategy.

Tong, who will report to chief digital officer Jeff Hyams, joins MEC from digital agency Possible, where she was strategy director.

She has experience working across WPP agencies including OgilvyOne Worldwide, J Walter Thompson and MEC, working on digital accounts such as Unilever Chanel, Kit Kat and British Airways.

Hyams, said: “Over the last year we have been building a strong experienced team of digital specialists and this role is the next step in the journey.

“Chien-Wen will have a specific focus on driving greater innovation and continued growth for our clients with an emphasis on content and data-driven strategies.”

Tong added: “MEC’s Global Solutions team has a thriving digital culture and I’m thrilled to be taking on this new role at MEC, returning to the agency at such an exciting time in the evolution of the business.”

Last month, MEC appointed Peter Vogel as chief executive of its Asia Pacific business, while the same month it opened its first office in Ghana, just six months after opening its sub-Saharan HQ in Kenya.
