M&M Global Awards: MediaCom and OMD top 10-year awards ranking

With the deadline to enter this year’s M&M Global Awards fast approaching, the team at M&M decided to take a look at which agencies have dominated the awards over the past decade.

Why 2005? Well, everyone loves a nice round 10, for a start. But it also provides a snapshot of which agencies have excelled in the wake of the rise of social and mobile marketing.

After all, in 2005 Facebook was celebrating its first birthday, Twitter was only one year away from launching, and Apple’s iPhone would hit the shelves a couple of years later in 2007. It was a watershed in the history of media.

So which agencies have performed best in the M&M Global Awards?

WPP’s MediaCom and Omnicom agency OMD emerged top of the pile, with 27 awards apiece, while Publicis Groupe’s ZenithOptimedia was pipped into third place with 26 prizes.

For the sake of consistency, we have pooled awards into the agency which is operational today, rather than the branding used at the time. For instance, Mediaedge:cia awards are listed under MEC, while MPG International awards come under Havas Media Group.

This year’s awards promise to be the biggest and best yet, with a host of new categories and a gala ceremony to take place at Grosvenor House on London’s Park Lane on Thursday 3 September.

New categories such as Best Use of Video, The Smart Use of Data and Best Use of Mobile reflect the changing role of technology in media.

We are also introducing a prestigious new International Creativity Award, to celebrate innovative examples of international marketing. See the full list of categories below, or visit our new website for more information.

The final deadline on 12 June. For any further details please contact our awards manager Graham Alexander at graham.alexander@csquared.cc, or visit our new awards website.
