Google websites reached over 70% of Russia’s online audience making them the most visited websites in the first-ever Comscore Video Metrix report for the country.
The online company’s portfolio of websites drew in 30.6 million unique viewers, who viewed 1.5 billion videos during May. Local offerings dominated the rest of the list with Mail.ru drawing in 18.4 million users, followed by Gazprom Media received with 12.3 million unique visitors. Yandex (6.5 million) and RosBusinessConsulting (4.7 million) rounded out the top five.
Eighty-five per cent of Russia’s entire online population consumed online videos with each person averaging 97 videos during the month. Males aged between 15- and 24-years-old were the most engaged in Russia and averaged 156 videos compared to 99 videos for females in the same group. Females aged 55 and older were the least active users averaging 69 videos.
“As insight about the scale of video consumption continues to be made available, there will be an even greater propensity to trust the digital medium to build brands,” said Google Russia country manager Vladimir Dolgov.
