RTL Group and Virgin Media join Thinkbox

Virgin Media and European entertainment network RTL Group have joined Thinkbox as associate members.

They will be Thinkbox’s first associate members. This means they will be involved in consultation and will take part in its activities and working groups.

Thinkbox is the marketing body for commercial television in the UK and its shareholders include Channel 4, ITV and Sky Media.

“RTL Group has always believed in the fundamental strength of commercial, advertising-funded TV. Not out of complacency, but because the facts speak for themselves,” says RTL Group executive vice president of corporate communications, public affairs and marketing Oliver Herrgesell.

Virgin Media commercial director Mark Brandon adds: “The TV advertising value chain is evolving fast, with next generation TV platforms such as Virgin Media playing an increasingly prominent role in this evolution.”

Full Thinkbox shareholder status is reserved for TV broadcasters and their sales representatives.
