Spotify debuts on iPad
02 May 2012
Music streaming service Spotify is stepping up its mobile presence with the launch of Spotify for iPad.
Spotify for iPad features retina graphics, a ‘Now Playing’ full-screen view with high-definition cover art, gapless playback and crossfade, and AirPlay integration.
Users can browse Spotify’s 18 million song library and search for playlists, users and music all from the same view, as well as check out what’s trending amongst friends.
Spotify for iPad is free to download, but requires a Spotify Premium subscription.
To celebrate its iPad launch, Spotify gave early access to up-and-coming UK singer-songwriter and producer Labrinth.
“My iPad is always with me on the road so being able to access whatever music I’m feeling right at that moment – either classic or fresh tracks – and then share those with my fans is a big deal,” says Labrinth. “As an artist I love the way my music is presented so slickly. Artwork is really important to me, and in Spotify’s iPad app it’s like it’s popping off the screen.”
Spotify is available in 13 countries including US, UK, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands and Spain. It has more than 10 million active users, and more than three million paying subscribers.
