L’Oréal is “bored” of Pinterest

L’Oréal vice-president of digital strategy and marketing Rachel Weiss has shared her views on how she has grown “bored” of Pinterest and thinks “Foursquare is not ready for advertisers yet”.

Speaking at Business Insider’s Social Media ROI Conference, Weiss said: “I was on Pinterest, but I stopped in the last couple of months. I got bored.”

Weiss’ statement comes despite recent figures from Experian showing that the number of female users outnumbers males with a 60:40 ratio.

Weiss went on to discuss what works and doesn’t work for L’Oréal in social media. “I don’t want to beat up on Foursquare but it is not ready for advertisers yet,” she said.

For her, texts were her favoured form of brand/consumer communication. “You see financial service companies do that, and it’s been successful,” says Weiss. “I want to see how that works in beauty.”
