Barbour tackles counterfeiters
Luxury clothing brand Barbour has partnered with Leeds-based search marketing agency Search Laboratory to clamp down on traders selling fakes online.

The company is running ads served through Google to educate users searching for the Barbour brand about the dangers of buying counterfeit products.

The campaign will direct shoppers to one of 2000 registered retailers instead of rogue traders.

“Barbour’s approach is pioneering,’ says Search Laboratory chief executive Ian Harris. “Usually clients want to sell more of their products or services online, but Barbour is wholly focused on maintaining their reputation as a luxury lifestyle clothing brand.”

Barbour, famous for their wax jackets, was established in 1894 and produces over 130,000 hand-made jackets every year from its North East England headquarters.
