Starcom MediaVest Group appoints new HK regional director
05 July 2012
Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) has named Alfred Cheng as its Hong Kong regional director.
The appointment has been made to increase the senior talent available in the market and to help drive key multi-national accounts including Richemont and UBS. Cheng has had experience in the market having served in several major agencies in Hong Kong including Ogilvy & Mather and DMB&B.
Prior to joining SMG, Cheng was deputy general manager at MEC Hong Kong. He joined MEC in 1997 and had responsibilities to oversee strategy and communications planning on several of the agency’s core accounts, including Citibank, Sony, DHL and Colgate-Palmolive.
In his new role, Cheng will be based in Hong Kong leading a dedicated team to oversee multiple regional accounts. He will report to SMG Greater China chief executive Bertilla Teo.
Last month, SMG promoted John Antoniades as its Middle East and North Africa chief executive and made several senior hires in the US, including Brian Terkelsen who has become chief executive of MediaVest USA.
