Lyle named CEO for NatGeo Channels US

David Lyle has been appointed as chief executive of the National Geographic Channels US and will assume responsibility for global programming.

Lyle will be tasked with the overall supervision of the domestic channels jointly owned by Fox and the National Geographic Society, which includes National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo WILD and Nat Geo Mundo.

Lyle has been working with the National Geographic management team as head of west coast development for several months. He has held a variety of roles with Fox since 2005, as well as senior positions at FreemantleMedia, Pearson Television and Australia’s Nine Network.

“[Lyle] brings extensive creative experience and a strong international perspective to this critical role,” said National Geographic Society president Tim Kelly. “He will be focused on delivering compelling popular programming that reflects, enhances and delivers on the substance of the National Geographic brand and mission.”
