BBC secures Premier League Africa rights
08 September 2010
The BBC World Service has signed a deal with the English Premier League which will see the broadcaster air live commentaries across sub-Saharan Africa.
The three-year deal enables the BBC to broadcast games to an audience of nearly 80 million people through its BBC Afrique (French), BBC Hausa, BBC Para Africa (Portuguese) and BBC Somali services.
“Africa has provided many great players for the Premier League, and we are pleased to extend the accessibility of the league through the local language radio services of BBC World Service broadcasting to this region,” said Paul Molnar, head of international broadcasting and media operations, Premier League.
