Euronews expands to Israel
09 January 2012
Euronews is establishing its presence in the Middle East through a new commercial agreement with Israeli cable operator HOT to distribute the channel across the country.
The deal allows Euronews to broadcast two of its eleven language services – Euronews English and Euronews Russian to HOT subscribers in Israel. Since the end of November last year, 800,000 digital subscribers have been able to access Euronews.
“We are extremely pleased to have secured the broadcast of Euronews in Israel,” says Euronews regional distribution manager Sylvie Paulin. “We know that Euronews has a role to play in this region. I am sure that the independence of our editorial line will allow us to attract many Israeli viewers as an alternative way to figure out world news.”
Euronews already has a presence in the Middle East, with the channel available free-to-air in more than 16 million homes.
