Pfizer calls $77m pitch in China

Pfizer China has called a media pitch for its subsidiaries Pfizer Nutrition (PN) and Consumer Healthcare (PCH), according to published reports.

Carat, Maxus, PHD and ZenithOptimedia are believed to be involved in the pitch. Carat currently handles the PN business, while ZenithOptimedia handles PCH Caltrate and Robitussin’s media planning. Both agencies currently split the media buying accounts across China, taking approximately 50% each.

Pfizer China’s media business is believed to be worth $77m and the client hopes to consolidate all accounts under one agency, although there is the possibility of using more than one agency.

Pfizer, the world’s largest drug maker, agreed to acquire rival Wyeth for $68bn in January 2009.
