Account Pitch
Shell kicks off $231m global media review
12 January 2012
Energy giant Shell has put its estimated $231m global media account, currently held by WPP’s Mediacom, out for pitch.
Shell has approached a number of agencies to submit a request-for-information (RFI) by next week. Mediacom, which has been Shell's media agency of record for more than a decade, is expected to re-pitch for the account.
Shell’s media business has been handled solely by Mediacom since last year. Prior to that, the account was split between Mediacom and its sister WPP agency Maxus. Before that, Mediacom, Maxus, Mindshare and Initiative made up the roster of agencies in charge of the business.
The media review will not affect creative duties, which are handled by JWT.
'Shell: Comment Visions' picked up the M&M Global Media Owner award at the 2011 M&M Awards.
