Mindshare creates global social role

Mindshare creates global social role
Mindshare has integrated Amsterdam-based SocialMedia8 into its global network and appointed its founder Igor Beuker as global chief social officer.

Social media specialist agency SocialMedia8 was acquired by the WPP in 2008. In the new role, Beuker will report to Mindshare Worldwide global digital leader Norm Johnston.

Prior to founding SocialMedia8, Beuker was chief marketing officer at Scoot, TeliaSonera and Telefonica O2. He also set up community agency LaComunidad and social video metrics firm ViralTracker.

Mindshare further enhanced its social efforts with the hiring of M80 managing director Mark Evans who will serve as North America’s new social lead.  He will manage social media campaigns for the GroupM agency’s North America-based clients.

“Incorporating social expertise within our scope of services allows us to deliver smarter, digital communication solutions. From insights to strategies, activation and analysis, this approach will allow us to deliver greater value for our clients,” says Evans.

Evans has a background in digital and social media having previously serviced as Catapult Marketing’s vice-president of digital and Euro RSCG’s digital brand director.

“There is a lot of talk in this space and few experts, even fewer who can translate what they do into integrated business plans for progressive clients,” says Mindshare Worldwide chief executive Nick Emery. “We are putting our money where our mouth is when it comes to social media.”
