Facebook forms creative council
19 June 2012
Facebook has assembled a Creative Council to consult on the social network’s product ideas and help ensure the site addresses creative agency needs and issues. It will function as the creative counterpart to the Client Council which was announced at last year’s festival.
The new council will hold its first meeting at this year's Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
The 14 members sitting on the council include Droga5 founder and chief executive David Droga, Socialistic founder and chief executive Colleen DeCourcy and Buddy Media co-founder and chief executive Mike Lazerow. The council also includes the chief creative officers from agencies R/GA, JWT, Leo Burnett, DDB, AKQA, CPB and Grey.
“Facebook has been a real game-changer for the advertising industry," says Lazerow. "Third party app and software developers have long known how much potential Facebook offers to marketers and now the technology take-up is building momentum, with ad agencies the creative lifeblood of this process."
Last week, Facebook launched a real time bidding service
to enhance its ad inventory. The site has been trying to maximise its ad revenue potential following the social network’s flotation on the NASDAQ
