Mediacom leads the M&M Global Awards 2012 shortlist

Work from NERF, Volkswagen and Deutsche Telekom helped propel Mediacom to the top of this year’s shortlist of the M&M Global Awards.

Medicom has 27 campaigns shortlisted across 13 categories. Closely behind Mediacom is OMD, in second place with 23 shortlisted entries for work on brands including McDonalds, Vodafone and Intel. Starcom is the third most shortlisted agency with work shortlisted in the ‘Best International Launch Campaign’, ‘Best Local Execution by a Global Brand’ and ‘Best Targeted Campaign’ categories.

Pan-regional media owner MTV International dominates the ‘Best Contribution to a Campaign by a Media Owner’ category with three out of the nine campaigns shortlisted being created by them.

In its 23rd year, the M&M Global Awards attracted its most entries to date with over 340 entries being submitted for consideration. The Awards, which recognise the most innovative and effective pan-regional advertising campaigns, are being chaired by Sony Europe’s media director, marketing communications, Dominic Fawcett.

The judging panel for the awards includes last year’s M&M Global Awards ‘International Marketer of the Year’ Turkish Airlines advertising manager Serdar Ekrem Sirin, HSBC global head of media and innovation Suresh Balaji, Reebok head of digital strategy Ruxandra Bocin-Dumitriu and Jaguar Land Rover global media manager Matthew Hotten.

“I am honoured and privileged to be the chair of the jury for the M&M Global Awards,” says Fawcett. “The Awards are all about global creative ideas, which run internationally and I am looking forward to being part of such a prestigious event. In the entering campaigns I hope to see some illuminating insights, clear strategy and some brilliant ideas, beautifully executed and concisely explained.”

New categories for this year’s Awards include ‘Best Engagement Strategy’ for which MEC, UM, and ZenithOptimedia are shortlisted; and ‘Best Local Execution by a Global Brand’ in which PHD, Mediacom and OMD are shortlisted.

This year’s winners will be revealed at the M&M Global Awards dinner on September 13 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. For information on the Awards and how to buy a ticket, click here.
