20 May 2011
Viacom International Media Networks’ (VIMN) is expanding its presence in Poland with the debut of educational pre-school network Nick Jr.
The Nick Jr. service will air in Polish for 24 hours a day, commercial-free, on Cyfrowy Polsat, the largest paid digital satellite platform in Poland, as well as on Multimedia Poland cable operator.
Nick Jr. is targeted at two-six year olds and their parents. Its curriculum-based pre-school programming includes Dora the Explorer, Go Diego, Go!, Ni Hao, Kai Lan, Team Umizoomi and Wonderpets, along with premiering programmes such as Little Bill, Bubble Guppies and Fifi Forget-Me-Not.
VIMN has already made its footprint in the region with channels already available, including MTV, Viva, Comedy Central, VH1 European, Viacom Blink! and Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon has been airing in Poland since 2008 and ranks in the top five among all 12 kids channels in Poland.
“The launch of Nick Jr. in Poland is a landmark for MTVNI’s emerging markets group as we look to continue building scale with our kids’ brands and further diversify and develop our portfolio across the region,” said Bhavneet Singh, managing director and executive vice-president, emerging markets, VIMN.
