Microsoft slams Google Apps in new video

Microsoft has launched another attack on fellow internet giant Google by posting an online video, entitled ‘Goolighting’, on YouTube that slams Google’s Apps product.

The two-minute film opens with the question, ‘What happens when the world’s largest advertising business tries to sell productivity software on the side?’ with Microsoft warning users to ‘Beware the Googlighting Stranger’.

Google Apps is Google’s effort to sell online apps, a direct competitor to Microsoft’s profitable Office division, with a suite of apps including Mail, Docs, Calendar and Spreadsheet among others.

In the video, Microsoft claims that paying customers are being used as “lab rats” and mocks Google for “killing off” products such as Buzz and Wave.

On its website Why Microsoft, the Windows-maker claims that “Google Apps is an ever-changing solution with experimental features that can increase complexity and the need for change management and training.”

Earlier this month, Microsoft launched an ad campaign attacking Google’s privacy policy changes.
