SMG creates EMEA role with mobile and performance focus

Starcom Mediavest Group (SMG) has appointed Richard Hocking in the newly-created role of EMEA director of performance and mobile, with immediate effect.

Based in London, Hocking’s international remit will be to drive disciplines and approaches required specifically in the dynamic content, mobile and performance spaces. It will also link to SMG’s global development initiatives in the mobile space.

Hocking will work with Starcom UK managing director Pippa Glucklich on developing UK operations, as well as SMG president, dynamic markets, Iain Jacob and SMG EMEA chief digital officer Ian James on developing EMEA initiatives.

Hocking has worked at SMG for 10 years, most recently as head of performance.

“Mobile, or more accurately mobility and our ability to get closer to people and their decisions at every point in the human experience journey, sits at the heart of SMG’s plans in 2013,” says James. “This appointment is the next stage in our focus on mobile as a broad strategic discipline to support our client’s commercial business models and help brands optimise behaviours.”

“Richard will play an integral role in the global development of exciting new mobile and performance services from our London hub,” he adds.
