Facebook launches Instagram clone

Facebook launches Instagram clone
Facebook has launched a new standalone mobile picture sharing app, similar to Instagram, called Camera.

Camera allows users to share multiple photos at once instead of having to upload each one individually. It also allows users to add captions and tag friends and a feed of photos from friends also features in the app.

It has features that will be familiar to Instagram users. The social network acquired Instagram two months ago for $1bn.

Camera was in development before Facebook made the acquisition. The Instagram acquisition has not yet been completed and is expected to close by the end of June. Facebook has stated previously that it wants to keep the service separate from the social network’s operations.

Camera will be available on the Apple app store today. An Android version of the app has not been confirmed.
