Statoil launches Energy Realities online resource

Norwegian energy company Statoil has collaborated with National Geographic Maps, The Economist Group and New Scientist for the launch of an online resource, Energy Realities, that looks at global energy issues.

With the help of UM, the energy company and trio of publishers have developed the online showcase Energy Realities to demonstrate present day and future energy problems that face the world.

Interactive maps, videos, photography, infographics and in-depth articles were sourced from the three publishers.

The site will be cross-promoted to the audiences of National Geographic, The Economist Group and New Scientist. A paid media advertising campaign will also target people in the energy industry.

Four out of five parts of the site are already active with the fifth part, concerning the future of energy, due to go live in February.

Statoil has also set up a discussion group on LinkedIn to encourage debate about energy challenges.

“The project is built as a unique media ecosystem which harnesses the strengths of each party to provide unique and useful content,” says UM EMEA strategy director Scott Nelson. “This helps Statoil’s audiences understand more about how technology and innovation can overcome energy challenges.”
