Postmedia tests paywalls
26 May 2011
Canada’s Postmedia is testing a new subscription-based model with its websites for the Montreal Gazette and Victoria Times Colonist newspapers.
According to Marketing, both metered websites will offer non-subscribers limited access to content on the websites. Non-subscribers will be able to access up to 20 articles every 30 days free-of-charge. Local breaking news, blogs and related sites will be exempt from metering.
Print subscribers to the Gazette will have unlimited access to the digital edition, non-print subscribers can buy the digital edition for $6.95. Access to the Times Colonist, digital edition is $9.95 monthly; print subscribers will need to pay an additional monthly access fee of $2.95 for the online edition.
