Brazil’s Neymar creates most Olympic buzz on Twitter

Brazilian international Neymar is the most talked about Olympic athlete on Twitter with more than 19,570 mentions, according to Eurosport.com’s real-time Twitter podium.
With the Olympics Opening Ceremony taking place this evening (July 27), Neymar is followed by Jamaica’s Usain Bolt who takes second place on the podium with more than 5,700 mentions, followed by US swimmer Michael Phelps at more than 3,330 mentions.
In fourth place is US basketball player LeBron James (2,960+), followed by fellow US basketball player Kobe Bryant, rounding out the top five with more than 2,660 mentions.
Australian basketball player Lauren Jackson takes the next spot with more than 1,730 mentions, followed by British football Ryan Giggs (1,580+), Swiss tennis player Roger Federer (1,265+), British diver Tom Daley (1,155+) and American international swimmer Ryan Lochte (1,150+).
The Twitter Buzz aggregator includes 80 local athletes across the UK, France, Spain, Italy and Germany, as well as 100 international stars of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Each Twitter mention is recorded to give daily stats on which stars are creating the most buzz on the social network.
