Nike appoints Adam Sussman as first chief digital officer

Nike has enhanced its digital strategy by appointing its first chief digital officer Adam Sussman, describing digital as “a vital accelerator” for the sportswear brand.

Sussman, who currently serves as head of global strategy and development, will report to Nike brand president Trevor Edwards in the newly created position which will see him leading team developing digital products and services across Nike’s platforms as well as driving consumer engagement.

“Digital offers a fundamental transformation of our business, as we create an industry-leading digital ecosystem that flows through all that we do,” Edwards said. “This is the leadership to which Nike is accustomed.”

Edwards continued that Sussman’s wealth of experience in digital, consumer technology and strategy leadership made him the perfect person for the role, which will draw on his expertise in marketing, strategic planning and digital product commercialisation from previous roles at Disney Interactive and EA Mobile.

“Adam is just as passionate about solving a problem for one athlete as he is introducing that innovation to a global community,” Edwards continued. “2016 promises to be a big year for the world of Nike digital, and this is just the beginning.”

This new appointment aims to help Nike meet its goal of reaching $50bn in revenue by the end of FY20, according to a company blog.
