Publicis Groupe readies four-year strategic plan to boost disappointing growth

Publicis chief executive Maurice Levy has said that the company will unveil a new four-year strategic plan to investors on 4 December following the failed $35bn Omnicom-Publicis merger earlier this year, according to reports.

Speaking at a conference yesterday (20 November) in Barcelona, Levy told delegates: “We are not delivering the kind of growth we are used to and not what we should do. We are confident the situation will improve remarkably next year.”

Publicis – which owns the Leo Burnett and Saatchi & Saatchi groups – recently posted lagging organic growth sales in the wake of the failed merger back in May.

It is expected that the newly revised 2018 business plan will shed some light on the group’s approach to shareholder returns following its recent $3.7bn acquisition of advertising specialist Sapient.

“The focus is to fix the organic growth of Publicis, integrate Sapient and to make sure it is generally the kind of growth that the market is expecting form us,” said Levy.

Levy added that Publicis will shortly deliver 42% of its profits to shareholders.
