Saatchi & Saatchi Latam boss Cynthia McFarlane to leave

Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide chief executive for Latin America and US multicultural Cynthia McFarlane is to leave the advertising agency network this autumn.

According to a report in Advertising Age, Miami-based McFarlane, who is also head of the US Hispanic agency Conill, will leave on 1 October, when she plans to take some time off before pursuing a new venture early next year.

She will not be replaced. Instead Saatchi’s Latam operations, except for Brazil, will report to UK-based CEO of worldwide dynamic markets Justin Billingsley. Billingsley oversees 29 countries including in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, which are dubbed ‘dynamic’ because of their fast-growing nature. He has held the post since a global management restructure in January 2015.

However, Brazil is deemed an established major market and following McFarlane’s departure will now fall under the aegis of Saatchi & Saatchi worldwide CEO Robert Senior. Brazil previously reported to former CEO and current executive chairman Kevin Roberts.

McFarlane started working for Saatchi & Saatchi in 1993, joining its Puerto Rico office as an account director. In 1997 she established and served as managing director of the network’s Miami office, while under her leadership since 2002, Conill has tripled in size. She has headed up Latin American and US Hispanic business at Saatchi & Saatchi and Conill since 2008.
