Sean Buckley promoted to SpotX chief revenue officer

SpotX has promoted Sean Buckley to the newly created position of chief revenue officer, shaping the company’s strategic direction globally whilst continuing to leading platform and demand facilitation teams.

Buckley, who joined in 2013 to build and launch the company’s platform business, has worked on the launch of the company’s SSP, publisher ad server and private marketplace services for buyers. He has been leading the consolidated demand facilitation and platform business units since July 2016.

“It’s exciting to be part of such a bright, dynamic, and forward thinking team here at SpotX,” said Buckley. “I look forward to working closely with our global teams to provide video publishers with advanced inventory management solutions, and help connect our platform customers with buyers via valuable, data-driven demand facilitation services.”

This is the first promotion of its kind, positioning Buckley as a c-suite executive, along with chief technology officer Allen Dove and co-founders chief executive officer Mike Shenan and chief financial and operating officer Steve Swoboda.

“Sean has quickly grown into an astute leader of our industry, and his knowledge of the video monetization ecosystem is indispensable to SpotX,” said Shehan, to whom Buckley will report. “His ability to navigate the complex challenges faced by both traditional publishers shifting to digital, and the ever-growing group of companies monetizing video, made him the best candidate for this new position.”

At the end of 2016, Vice and The Guardian partnered with SpotX for a new production unit in Vice’s London office, sharing expertise across platforms.
