Terror attacks: Our thoughts are with friends and colleagues in Paris

Charlie Crowe, chairman and editor-in-chief of M&M Global’s parent company C Squared, reflects on this weekend’s horrific terrorist attacks in Paris.

C Squared has many friends in Paris. When I was editing M&M Europe back in the 1990s, French media companies were a bedrock of support for the magazine. Prominent media brands such as Le Monde, Le Figaro, Paris Match, TF1, Lagardere Group, Les Echos, Le Point, L’Express and La Nouvelle Observateur were all loyal advertisers.

Today, MMG draws many readers from the French capital, which is not surprising given how many global brands are stationed there.

This morning, C Squared gives pause to think of our colleagues and friends who are journeying into work today – determined to show the extremists the futility of their savagery. Our friends at Publicis Groupe, Havas, Euronews, New York Times Group, TV5 Monde, JC Decaux – to name just a few – are all in our thoughts, as are the French offices of all the international groups we work with.

C Squared’s brands serve networks of people and businesses around the world. We proudly define ourselves as “international” and not “local”, and we believe that globalisation will continue to bring opportunities for anyone with passion and curiosity. We celebrate national differences as well as championing the bonds that tie us together as international media and marketing professionals.

Media is indeed a global community and this is something we feel even more keenly today.
