Unilever’s Alessandra Bellini joins Tesco as customer chief

Alessandra Bellini has been appointed as chief customer officer of the UK supermarket chain Tesco, leaving her US-based role at Unilever.


Italian-born Bellini, who most recently served as vice president of the food category in North America and food general manager for the US, has held a range of international executive roles during her 12 year advertising career in Italy, Central and Eastern Europe as well as the UK.

Bellini begins in the role on 1 March.

Tesco’s previous chief customer officer Robin Terrell resigned from the business in August last year.

“I’m delighted that Alessandra is joining the team at Tesco,” said Tesco Group chief executive Dave Lewis. “Her experience in building brands will be a valuable asset in the next stage of building a truly differentiated Tesco brand.

“She understands how to put the customer at the heart of business decisions, and has a great track record of building market-leading brands and teams. I am very much looking forward to having her on the team.”

In its January report, Unilever’s FMCG said that more than a third of global consumers now base purchase decisions on brands’ social and environmental impact.
