Knox, who starts on 12 April, will oversee international expansion and global operations, using her experience in the Asia Pacific region. She will report to chief executive officer and co-founder Matt Berriman.

“Aliza has an amazing track record of business growth and accomplishments regionally and globally,” said Berriman. “The team and I are excited about her joining as we expand our business into other verticals like content streaming and geographies including Asia.

“Her wealth of experience and strong relationships will be an enormous asset as we accelerate growth towards our 2025 mission to give back $500m in Unlockd value to our consumers.”

At Twitter, Knox built and led Twitter’s APAC sales teams and self-serve advertising business, launched and ran the Asia Headquarters and provided oversight for part of the LATAM operations. She previously held senior executive sales and operational roles at Google and Visa.

“I have always been drawn to businesses with a strong entrepreneurial spirit that creates value for consumers in unique ways,” said Knox. “What is especially appealing about Unlockd is its revolutionary business model where each party in the ecosystem wins, combined with visionary leadership and a strong sense of purpose.

“Given Unlockd’s strong growth pipeline in emerging markets like Asia Pacific, I am confident my skill set will add a lot of value to the business and equally, working in this role will be a rewarding experience for me.”

This comes shortly after the appointment of JC Oliver as global chief creative officer to lead the company’s strategic creative direction and Matt Von der Muhll as chief revenue officer to look after all commercial aspects of the business.
