London based Start-up, WiForia, is enabling stores to interact with customers during their shopping trip to enhance their in-store experience.
Company: WiForia Ltd
Sector: Shopper Marketing/Loyalty/Retail
Location: London
Regions Covered: Global
Founded By: Alex Meisl and Dan Parker
Are they rocket scientists? Dan Parker is considered to be a “bit of a visionary” and our CTO sits on the WWW committee for mobile standards and is a bit of a geek.
Who are your major backers? Self-funded to date
What’s your track record? Good media coverage, strong partnerships built, and exceptional pipeline in UK and Europe
What do they say? It allows us to interact with the customer within and not just after the shopping trip and secondly, it makes use of hardware and investment already in place, thus helping us sweat existing capital assets.
What does this mean? They like it
What makes your company different to its competitors? According to our partners in retail, sales and hardware etc (Asda, Sainsbury, Spar, Metro, Cisco, HP, Motorola, EE and Fujitsu amongst others), they have not seen a similar solution elsewhere
First clients? McDonalds and Sainsbury
How could your company change the world? By allowing retailers to recognise and engage with their customers whilst in-store, we can deliver a digital-style experience in the physical world.
Who do you compete with? Traditional loyalty schemes, paper-based vouchering schemes, people with clipboards.
Who should be worried? Worry is overrated, we prefer to make people delighted.
If you could choose any investor globally, who would it be? A major services or solutions company working in the retail space.
If you could poach any member of staff from any company in the world, who would it be? We just did….he’s the former Global Head of Shopper Marketing at P&G.
