YouTube chief executive officer encourages influencers to use their voice to fight racism

Youtube chief executive officer Susan Wojcicki has encouraged content creators to help viewers “figure out how to live together in respect” following recent racially-motivated incidents in the US.

In a blog post, Wojcicki reminded Youtubers that she believes there is “no group of people on the Earth that has more power to move people than you do”.

“How you use your voice is up to you,” she added. “But if you can use it to help us all figure out how to live together in respect, to lend support to the Black community, to Dallas and to all the victims’ families, we need to hear it.”

The US is still coming to terms with a series of racially motivated killings, most recently,  the death of five white policemen during a Black Lives Matter rally.

“I can’t do what you do,” Wojcicki concluded, “but change needs to happen, so let’s see what we can do together.”
