Burger King awards $100m European media business to Vizeum

Fast-food giant Burger King has appointed Vizeum to handle its consolidated European media planning and buying account, estimated to be worth around $100m.

The Dentsu Aegis Network-owned agency has won the account across nine markets: Germany, Spain, the UK, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, Portugal and Poland.

The decision was made following a four-way pitch that involved GroupM, Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) and Initiative.

SMG previously held the account which it was awarded in June last year.

Earlier this year Burger King confirmed that it was in talks with Canadian coffee and doughnut chain Tim Hortons, causing speculation that it was pursuing a “tax inversion” deal.
