JCPenney to review media agency business

American retail group JCPenney is to review its $450m media business, according to reports.

OMD, which has held the account since 2000, has managed to retain the account over the last 14 years despite JCPenney changing its lead creative agencies four times since then.

In August last year the company named former Kraft Foods marketing boss Debra Berman as its senior vice president of marketing. She brought in a completely new agency team including Doner, Victors & Spoils and EVB.

Berman will be responsible for overseeing the review, which sources claim is still in the early stages, writes AdAge.

JCPenney reported net sales of $2.8bn in its most recent quarter, compared to $2.66bn during the same time last year.

Despite this decrease, same-store sales increased by 6% during the quarter and online sales rose 17% to $249m.
