Karl Cluck appointed Mindshare APAC chief client officer

WPP’s Mindshare has appointed Karl Cluck as chief client officer in Asia Pacific, building on his role as chief executive officer for Mindshare Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

Cluck will retain leadership in his current regions whilst working with regional clients and team leaders to drive business, as well as growing their Adaptive Marketing proposition through FAST hubs and content division Content+.

“It’s an incredible opportunity to work with Ashutosh [Srivastava], Gowthaman [Ragothaman] and the Mindshare regional team and market leads to drive our Adaptive Marketing vision forward in Asia,” said Cluck. “We’re lucky to have some of the most innovative clients in the world working with us – and I look forward to building on the success of the current team.”

Since starting with Mindshare in 2006 as the China Unilever planning lead, Cluck has been credited with several account wins and retrievals of clients like Nike, as well as establishing Mindshare Korea. He is taking over the role immediately from Sudipto Roy, who has gone on to become chief executive officer of developing markets at WPP’s TenthAvenue.

Chief executive officer for Asia, Middle East, Africa and Russia/CIS Ashutosh Srivastava felt that Cluck had been behind some of the agency’s best work in China and North Asia helping build a strong reputation and relationship with clients.

“His irreverence for all things official and conventional, and his ability to combine this irreverence with insightful media, market and consumer knowledge to arrive at creative solutions makes him a fabulous resource to have for any client-agency team,” said Srivastava. “I look forward to him making a bigger impact, with more clients, in this new role.”
