VIMN Americas appoints JC Acosta as COO among raft of senior hires

VIMN Americas has made several new appointments to its senior management team including Juan “JC” Acosta as chief operating officer.

As chief operating officer, Acosta will be responsible for VIMN’s portfolio of brands including MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, Paramount Channel and Tr3 in the Latin America, Canada and the US Hispanic market.

Acosta will be responsible for elevating the brands in direct alignment with rest of the business, while improving the ROI in content and optimising the brand portfolio according to each brands needs and growth potential. He will also have financial oversight of the company’s entertainment portfolio, whilst overseeing the company’s original production strategy and management for all brands.

Previously, Acosta was executive vice president, chief financial officer and executive-in-charge of production, where he was responsible for finance and all aspects of production across brands. Prior to joining VIMN Americas, Acosta was the director of finance for NBCU/Telemundo Network Group, following roles at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and the Walt Disney Company.

In addition to Acosta’s appointment, Federico Cuervo has been appointed as senior vice president of entertainment brands and Tiago Worcman as senior vice president, music brands for VIMN Americas.

In his new role Cuervo will be responsible for Comedy Central and the Paramount Channel in Latin America.

Prior to this role, Cuervo was senior vice president of production for VIMN Americas and brand manager for Comedy Central Latin America, where he was responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of local productions for VIMN Americas’ brands in the region (MTV, Vh1 and Comedy Central).

Worcman will be responsible for directing the content and creative strategy for the music brands at the pan-regional level, overseeing the development and production of MTV’s original content and programming; as well as Tr3s for the US Hispanic market and Vh1 for Latin America. Building on the success of MTV Brazil, Worcman will create a new, integrated MTV organisation, combining MTV Latin America with MTV Brazil, working closely with the company’s general managers in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico.

Prior to this appointment, Worcman was vice president of programming and content, brand manager for MTV Brazil, where he supervised production and programming for the brand in Brazil.
