Bacardi promotes Latam marketer Fabio Di Giammarco to top global role

Bacardi has promoted its senior Latam marketer Fabio Di Giammarco to global vice-president of Bacardi rum, giving him responsibility for the brand’s worldwide marketing.

Di Giammarco, whose appointment takes immediate effect, is set to join Bacardi’s global headquarters in Bemuda subject to approval from the island’s immigration authorities.

He reports to Mauricio Vergara, chief marketing officer for North America and global lead for Bacardi rum and Grey Goose vodka. In his global role he will oversee the brand positioning, advertising, packaging and pricing of Bacardi rum.

Di Giammarco, who was most recently vice-president of marketing and commercial for Bacardi Latin America and Caribbean (LAC), joined the alcoholic drinks brand owner in 2012 as managing director of its Brazil operations. He has since held a number of roles throughout the LAC region.

His experience bodes well for the spirit business’s global prospects. He was instrumental in helping Bacardi’s flavoured rum category, and Bacardi Big Apple, become the fastest growing spirit in Brazil’s history; while in 2013, Bacardi achieved the biggest share of the rum market in the country under his direction.

Prior to joining Bacardi, Di Giammarco worked for brewer group SAB Miller in Latam, as global head of marketing communications at Philips in Amsterdam, and as a sales development director for Danone in Italy.
