Initiative appoints Bret Leece as global chief analytics officer

IPG Mediabrands-owned agency Initiative has undergone a reshuffle of its senior management team, promoting Bret Leece to global chief analytics officer.

Bret Leece

Leece will begin his new role immediately, reporting to global CEO Jim Elms. He previously held the position of chief analytics officer for the US, where he was responsible for the team’s approach to data, research and media platforms.

Commenting on Leece’s appointment Elms said: “Simply put, Bret has been a game changer in his role in the US.

“I am very excited to have him join our global team and deliver the type of proactive leadership on the critical data and research issues our clients around the world demand every day.”

In addition, the agency has appointed Joe Masucci as its chief analytics officer in the US, replacing Leece. Masucci joins the agency from OMD where he most recently served as global executive director.

Masucci will be responsible for leading data, analytics and research efforts on behalf of US clients, working closely with Leece and reporting into Peter Mears, president North America.

Mears said: “Adding a professional with the calibre of capability that Joe brings demonstrates our commitment to our industry leading data and analytics practice.

“I’m confident his experience will only further strengthen our offering with clients,” he added.

Andy Von Kennel will also join the agency as chief client officer in the US. Previously serving as senior vice president, business development and integration at IPG Mediabrands, Von Kennel has already worked closely with the Initiative team.

In his new role, Von Kennel will be responsible for business leadership and account management for all US accounts and will lead business development strategy reporting directly to Mears.

Commenting on Von Kennel’s appointment, Mears said: “He brings a holistic approach and a deep understanding of the IPG network. Andy is tenacious and client-centric – two characteristics that align seamlessly with our FBDS culture and strengthening our leadership team.”

Prior to IPG Mediabrands, Von Kennel ran a technology start-up and worked at Omnicom.
